A lawsuit was filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Houston-based First Street Surgical Center after a male nurse was accused of creating a hostile work environment and sexually harassing several female nurses who reported to him.
The victims claimed that their boss made unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate jokes to them. The EEOC said that the employees who rejected his advances or complained were either fired or given negative performance evaluations.
First Street Surgical Center agreed to terminate the abusive boss and to pay $290,000 in compensation to the victims in order to settle the lawsuit.
