A legal complaint filed yesterday by California-based lawyer Joseph Cotchett, who represents about a dozen victims of Madoff’s multi-billion dollar investment Ponzi scheme, describes the Madoff work environment as “a culture of sexual deviance” and containing massive drug use.
According to the lawsuit, employees described drug-fueled “wild office parties” hosted at Madoff’s headquarters that featured topless waitresses and sexual encounters on “their boss’ sofa.”
The lawsuit alleges that from 1975 to 2003, Madoff had a designated employee supply the office with such massive amounts of cocaine that insiders referred to the Madoff office as “The North Pole.”
“Madoff’s affinity for escorts, masseuses and attractive female employees was well known in the office culture,” the complaint says. “A significant amount of the money stolen from investors went towards these lavish indulgences as well as other expenses for his employees, family and favorite feeders.”
