Workplace bullying costs UK economy £13.75 billion a year

A report conducted by Dr. Sabir Giga from the University of Bradford last year found that the fallout from workplace bullying costs the British economy £13.75 billion each year.

In addition, bad bosses contributed to about 100 million days in lost productivity, as employees in a hostile work environment are more likely to miss work because of stress-induced psychological and physical illnessWorkplace bully victims are also more likely to become distracted from their daily tasks and often suffer from a loss of motivation.

Ann Gibson, Chairperson of the Dignity at Work Project, said: “As a society we are paying too high a price for bullying.  Employers that ignore bullying do so at huge costs.”
